When the front end showed up, it was obvious that the trees were not meant to fit this frame.
We'd have to chop off the locking tab just to get the lower tree into its home, and then grind away at the corners to give us a decent turning angle.

And since the neck bearings are press fit, the trees go on a lot easier than they come back off. For this reason, I painted the lower tree, neck cups, and bearing dust covers so that we wouldn't have to take it back apart for paint unless we really wanted to.
